Football/Soccer is a sport that is surely found in every community around the globe. It’s no surprise to find that passion for the world’s greatest teams is found among our Maasai educational partners as well. While names like Chelsea and FC Barcelona are topics of everyday conversation, it’s a shame that youth enjoyment of the game is often hampered by footballs that are simply beaten by harsh African conditions. Jagged rocks and sharp acacia thorns add to the hazards of barbed wire and occasional intense rains. The life of a football is quite short in Kenya.
One World Futbol has generously supported several Freedom Through Learning partner schools with revolutionary new balls that are designed with Africa in mind. A specific distribution of these balls has been arranged by Freedom Through Learning’s representative Cora Lavender.
Cora’s images and this video tell the story.
